Tulle into Tutu's

Good Day Thursday!
    Last night I made two of the cutest  tutu's I have ever seen. I made a bright pink, white, and green one; and a purple, light pink, and white one. I originally made the waist band out of ribbon, however, I have decided that I do not like that and will be transferring them to an elastic waist band today. As soon as all of the final touches are on them I will post some photos of them. Monday they will be mailed to my cousin and his wife for their 2 girls to enjoy. I am really hoping to see some photos of the girls in them fairly soon after they get them. One of the girls turns 3 on Monday, and while I was hoping to have the tutu's there for the birthday, I can see that they will a little bit late but there just the same. 
    I also started my project of making Organza roses for our Fall Scrap Around The Clock Welcome kits. This is another fairly easy project with a very beautiful outcome. I should have one completed by tomorrow which means photos will be posted tomorrow too! I am really excited about these and for see them turning out very well and making some extremely gorgeous scrapbook pages for the ladies at the crop. 
    The other project that I am doing for the SATC Welcome kits is branded leather tags. My husband is picking up a soldering iron today for me to use with this project. The idea is to cut tags out of real leather and then stamp an image onto them. In this case I will be using a fall or autumn themed stamp. Once the image is on the leather you trace it with a soldering iron or wood burner to give it a "branded" look. Ever since reading about this technique in Tragic Magic by Laura Childs I have been itching to try it. I think this could give some really good inspiration for page themes and ideas.
    
    Since it is the beginning of September we (meaning mainly myself) have been in a canning swing trying to put up different things for the winter. So far we have canned Dill Pickle Spears, Dilly Beans, Dill Pickled Vegetables, Peaches, Peach Syrup, Applesauce, Barbecue sauce, and Tuna. I have processed and frozen Green Beans, Blackberries, Peaches, Peach Jam, Peach-Blackberry Jam, and Zucchini so far. On the list is canned Apples, Pears, Pear sauce, Pumpkin Pie Filling, Strawberry-Banana Jam, Bread and Butter Pickles, and Chicken; and frozen Corn, Tomatoes, Apples, Pears, and Broccoli; and dehydrated Peppers, Apples, Pears, and Herbs; and smoked Fish, and Jerky. I would love to learn how to make fresh apple cider, but I know I need an apple press and so that will be a project for next year instead. 
    I really sometimes wonder how I have time to work 40 hours a week and commute 2 hours a day to do that work. I have literally tons of projects that I would love to just stay home all day and do, but reality is, I work and do all of these other projects in my "spare" time. My wonderful husband is a great help with the canning and prep for the canning. He usually runs the apple peeler, so that I can do a bit of multi-tasking and stir the applesauce, and water bath can jars of other stuff like pickles while the apples cook down. I really could not get it all done without his help and patience with me as I get going on about 50 projects all at once (which drives him absolutely crazy, by the way).
